In mid 2022, I start a new studio in Oiartzun, near San Sebastian, Basque Country, after almost a decade of shared experience in the field of product design
I consider myself a meticulous designer, aware of the importance of all the processes involved in the creation of an object, from the first sketch to the manufacture, so that the final result is the right one.
I work on the design of each product from a humble position, as just another phase in the process of creating the object, just as important as the work of the cabinetmaker, the welder or the upholsterer.
From a curious and rigorous point of view, I look for restraint in each of the strokes that define an object, using the right lines and taking care of the beauty of each one of them. I think this comes from my deep love for geometry and shape in general.
I seek to endow the objects I design with affectivity. I imagine them as part of the set of pieces we surround ourselves with throughout our lives. Something perennial, which ideally will remain with us for a long time. I consider it important to give objects a depth, a story to tell.
I think there is a need for more honesty in design. Ours is a field where there’s a tendency for void discourse. I prefer two accurate and honest words to long paragraphs devoid of content.
And I do all of this as a vocation. I love it. As an active part of the productive machinery of consumption, I am aware of the environmental consequences of my craft. So I try to exercise this vocation in the most responsible way. One of the ways to make our trade sustainable is to find fair and correct solutions. Solutions that create links with the user, that retain their value over time and that are "around" in our lives.
