I have wanted to use this interesting material for a long time. It is a kind of felt made from recycled plastic bottles. Often this material has been used in not so nice combinations. The kind of formal association I propose for this chair comes without doubt from the influence of some of the best masters of Scandinavian design, such as on Borge Mogensen or Hans Wegner.
The gestuality that they once applied to leather could be transferred to this new material in an extremely friendly way. The result is a chair that speaks the language of the home while at the same time being structurally very robust and surprisingly light.
This has been a long project, where I used old and new technics. The precision of both materials was extremely important and an arduous work of 3D CAD was necessesary. The surface treatment of the shell was meticulously taken care of.
This is the very first sketch I did of the chair’s concept. Not major features were lost in its development.
